If you’re looking for a good time this weekend around the Treasure Coast of Florida, there are lots of options for you.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday (July 9, 10 & 11), Stuart’s Lyric Theater will be hosting performances of the classic rock opera ‘Tommy’. Performed by the powerhouse, award-winning teens of StarStruck Performing Arts Center. Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20. Hobe Sound is hosting the Hobe Sound Barbecue Festival from noon to 6 pm on Saturday, July 10th. Located at Bridge Road and State Road A1A in downtown Hobe Sound. This festival features professional competitors from around the state hoping to win the $10,000 in prize money. In addition, a second, ‘backyard competition’ will be held for local restaurants and enthusiasts for bragging rights. There will be arts and crafts, entertainment and food galore for the entire family.
At the Blake Library in Stuart, the Central Florida-based ensemble Friends of Jazz will be performing at 2 p.m. Saturday. The ensemble features vocalists Tammy Georgine and Bob Fowler along with Greg Taillon on bass, Dave Crockett on piano, Ronnie Hart on drums and Ross Humphries on woodwinds and brass.
